We gave Spaz her first taste of (pseudo)solid food yesterday, rice cereal! I'm not sure if she likes the food or the attention more... Every time Natalie would try and give her a spoonful, she'd immediately stick her hands in her mouth, so not only are we battling Spaz to get the food in the mouth, we're having to keep the food in her mouth and her hands out of it!
We can't get these pictures rotated but they're still cute!
We finally had our appointment with the Geneticist. Spaz is 3months old. She is 13lbs, in the 50th percentile in weight and 75th percentile for height.
She has a Metabolic Disorder that results in a low carnitine level. Carnitine is a chemical that is used to transport food in and out of the mitochondria which make energy. The doctor told us that as long as she is supplemented with carnitine she will live a normal life.
Crazy that it took us 3months to find out that simple statement. This is usually a minor problem, and she won't be affected by it much, if at all.
For now, she's growing like a weed, and has recently found her voice. She'll coo and sing to us all day long as long as we're there to sing and coo back to her.
