Nursery in Progress...

In reality it is the babies corner...
She will be sharing her room with our study
(3bookshelves and two desks)

Saturday was my baby shower in the valley!
It was so much fun to see everyone, we received so many amazing gifts!
I had to show off some of the great items we received!
The theme of the nursery is/will be giraffes, as soon as I get done studying for Boards!

  • The giraffe was made and designed by Shawna (PA friend), isn't it awesome!
  • The bright pink blanket was made by Dallas's Mom! It matches perfectly!
  • Dallas's Grandma Miller crocheted us the blanket on the left.

  • The material on the back of the crib is what the future bed set will be made from...when I'm not studying.

And this is a picture of the baby and me, are we not getting huge!
35 weeks...

Studying tips: Entertaiment Ideas

(I know it sounds counter-productive but it is completely necessary!)

#1 favorite: Exercise ball
- It's bouncy and gets the 'Wiggles' out (For all you ADHD people out there)
- Provides a little bit of core strengthening, i.e. exercise
- I can't decide whether the Baby likes the ball or not...she gets pretty wiggly when we are on it! She seems to have lots of wiggles to get out!
- Warning!!!, It is also very easy to fall off. It hasn't happened yet, but there have been a few close calls.
#2: Pandora
- Sometimes you just can't stand your own music selection anymore!
- Careful with overuse, I hear they cut you off after a certain number of hours!

#3: Colorful Pens and Highlighters
- You would think I would grow out of this, but there is something about studying from a well highlighted, multi-colored page (organized of course)...it keeps your attention!

#4: Low calorie snacks, FOOD!
- My current favorite is Smarties (This is primarily because I have a giant jar full of them and nobody else seems to like them)
- Previous favorites include KIX cereal, Cheerios, Wheat Thins, Tootsie rolls (failed the low calorie requirement)

#5: Facebook
- It is fast and gives you a little break here and there. Plus if you check it too often nobody has posted anything new so it takes even less time!

#6: Channel 8
- This is an option when you get desperate, can't handle studying and have tried everything else.
- Choose a boring program that you aren't interested in!
For example Wine sampling/growing, painting, evolution, photography, travels through various countries...

#7: ..............Any ideas??
(Can you tell I'm already getting bored with studying?)

Feeling Domestic

I love this recipe because it reminds me of the Dutch Babies my mom use to make. This is a healthy version of the same thing!
This morning I cooked them stovetop and they turned out awesome!

The healthy version!!

German Babies (also known as German Pancakes, Dutch Babies...)

Serves 2

3 eggs
1/3 c. flour
1/3 c. milk
Sometimes I add a little melted butter to the bottom of the pan to make the edges more crispy... but it is a little less healthy this way.

-Beat ingredients together
(my mom always said to not to over beat the eggs or something bad happens with the eggs, Dallas gets carried away sometimes though...and they still turn out okay!)

Original recipe calls for them to be cooked in the oven at 475 for 15-20 minutes. (9x13"pan)

Also can be cooked stove top (6-8"pan-I used cast iron) with a lid (for the hot summer days) on low to medium (closer to low), for about 15-20 minutes.
(I tried this for the first time this morning and they were awesome and my house isn't stifling hot from the oven being on.)

Served with Syrup or if your feeling a little more gourmet it is fun to drizzle lemon juice and sprinkle powdered sugar on top!

Good Luck!
